EKATERINBURG: A GLIMPSE OF PARADISE OR THE LAST CLASH OF TITANS BEFORE WORLDSHOOT

Around the match
After having shot as many matches as possible this year – considering that, as most of us, I have a business to run and a family to attend to – I wanted to share with you my conclusion:
The Eurasia Extreme match in Ekaterinburg is the most balanced match I have shot this year.
You get a fair share of everything:
a.     Good accommodation and food
b.    Nice city
c.     A very good match with 30 excellent stages
d.    Smiling range officers
e.    Excellent infrastructure: shadow, water and refreshments, transport to and from the range
f.     The jewel of the crown is of course the awards ceremony – this year with Toto Cutugno and Boney M.

For the gun aficionados Sunday morning brought the visit to Mr Altushkin’s amazing gun collection.
Here a few pictures of selected items.
New for this year are, among others, the motorcycles: both the German with the mounted MG 34 and the American Harley Davidson.

Ekaterinburg would certainly be a serious contender for the next World shoot. We are looking forward to what the General Assembly will decide.

The Match

I had the incredible opportunity to shoot at the same time and geographically very close to the squads of several top shooters.

Eric Grauffel dominated the Standard Division as usual. It is amazing to watch the level of skill in IPSC shooting Eric has developed in the last 20 years. It does not only involve technical skills. He also excels at stage tactics. Remember: the stage winner takes all points in IPSC. However, experience shows that it is basically impossible to win all stages, particularly given the high level of the shooters participating. Being among the top five shooters in almost all stages though usually wins you the match. Or, at least, it does for Eric. Well done!

Production Division has not only developed to the most popular division – it is also the one that shows the strongest growth.

Here you can find a few stages of three of the main contenders to the title of World Champion in the Production Division: Ljubisa Momcilovic, Robin Sebo and Eduardo de Cobos. Everyone is very curious to see who is going to win in Chateauroux!

Enjoy!

Enjoy!
